Cindy Sughrue - Chair

Cindy Sughrue is currently the Chief Executive/Executive Producer of Scottish Ballet. She has worked at senior level within the cultural sector in the UK since 1990, with extensive knowledge of the performing arts, including an early career as a dancer.  Born in Boston, USA, Cindy received a first class honours degree from Boston University before coming to the UK in 1985 as a Marshall Scholar to undertake a PhD in Dance. Previous posts include Director of the Collective Gallery, General Manager of Dance Base (Scotland’s National Centre for Dance) and Head of Dance at the Scottish Arts Council. At Scottish Ballet, Cindy is responsible for managing all aspects of the organisation and working alongside the Artistic Director to realise the company’s artistic vision. She manages the production, presentation and touring process as well as developing opportunities for Scottish Ballet to exploit its work in the UK and internationally. Last year, following an £11m capital project, Scottish Ballet moved to its new award-winning national headquarters at Tramway in Glasgow.
