Julie McGarvey

Julie McGarvey co-founded 3x1 Public Relations in 2001. She is a specialist in strategic communications with particular strengths in brand building, reputation and crisis/issue management.  

3x1 has been voted Scotland’s PR Consultancy of the Year three times since its formation. It is one of only three Scotland agencies to be ranked in PR Week’s Top 150 league table and Julie has featured in the PR Power Book for the last three years.

Julie’s media career spanned the BBC in London and Radio Clyde after graduating from Strathclyde University in modern languages and business studies.  For the last 20 years she has directed strategic campaigns for blue chip clients across all sectors including arts and tourism. 3x1 campaigns have included Wickerman Festival, Museums Galleries Scotland, Glasgow’s Winterfest, Highland Spring, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, VisitScotland, Diageo, Destination Dumfries & Galloway and Scotland Food & Drink.

Julie is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), former chair of CIPR Scotland, an adviser to the University of Stirling’s MSc in Public Relations. She is also a member of The Marketing Society, Institute of Directors and Scottish Council for Development and Industry.
